live radio and lungs
Lats night I went with Mohas to a taping of LiveWire. It was really fun! It's kindof like the Oregon local version of Prairie Home Companion. Theres some comedy, music, and interviews. It was awesome! some of the Rollergirls were there, that was hilarious. and Tony Starlight who was really fabulous! It was a great show, i just felt bad because i couldn't stop coughing. i sucked down half a bag of halls trying to keep the coughs at bay. I had to get up at one point and go have my coughing fit in the bathroom. It was funny, (strange not ha ha) cause I was hacking in the stall and then I peed and while I was peeing and hacking I hear a little voice "are you ok?" I was like, "yeah, I'm ok." it was weird, i guess someone was concerned and followed me into the bathroom. But then when I left the stall there was noone there. It was kind of surreal. I've been coughing so much I think I pulled something in my back, it hurts real bad and its hard to put on my jacket. I got home from the show and was searching for nighttime cough syrup in my medicine cupboard when I came across a small miracle.....an old prescription of cough suppressants! YES! I thought I had some and had looked for them previously but hadn't found 'em. There are like 9 left. it was like finding gold, I did a little happy dance in the bathroom. They must be from the last time I had a real bad cough. It sucks when I get coughs 'cause they really like to stick around. I have this floating broken rib from coughing too much when I had bronchitis when I was I think about 19, and when I cough now it jumps and it really starts to hurt. I'm also paranoid about my lungs, i don't want another collapsed lung, those are really no fun.

goodbye sweet kitty
my mom had to have my cat, Honey, put to sleep today. I am very sad that I couldn't be there, though my mom said it's probably better that I wasn't. but still......My mom is so sweet, she wasn't going to tell me until later because she didn't want to ruin my valentines day. i just happened to call in the middle of the whole thing. Honey lived a long time and had a very good life. She was 18 years old, that's an old kitty. I'll miss you, Honey!
adventures in real estate meetings
I just had an interesting afternoon lunch meeting. it was a title co. tax tips for realtors thing at papas pizza. there was this great big group in this conference room that was mostly windows, and all of a a sudden there were a whole bunch of cop cars and cops with guns pointed our direction in the parking lot. It was quite unsettling to have a gun pointed my way from a not so far distance. our group was sitting at the table right by the window. another cop came running in and made us all get up and leave the room, saying "you're right in the line of fire, there is an armed robber he does have a gun" this was after the guy was standing in the parking lot surrounded by cops and dogs with his hands way way up in the air.

dad's are funny
I told my dad that i have a new boyfriend. I have never had this type of conversation with my dad before, but I figured I should give him the heads up since we're going to go down to eugene and stay with my parents next weekend. It went something like this:
dad: "are you going to come down this weekend to see Braden's play?"
me: "no, i'm coming down the next weekend, and I'm bringing my new boyfriend to meet you guys."
dad: "oh. Is he nice?"
me: "yes, he's very nice."
dad: "Is he a druggie?"
me: "no, he's not a druggie"

run down
I've been sick all weekend. despite the sick, i still had a very enjoyable visit with chris and auna who came down from seattle to sit around the house being lazy. it was great.
this morning as I was driving to the office I saw the Oscar Meyer weiner mobile driving the opposite direction down powell. what a strange thing to see on your way to work.
I managed to drag my tired sick little self to the office, now I'm here and feeling like I have no reason to be here. I may just head back home and go back to bed.

fish bowl effect
My office is the first one in the area of new agent offices, i sit with my back to a giant window that is the first thing one sees when one walks into this area. This way I face the door to our office and the window to outside. We re-arranged our desks because as it was before we were all facing walls and facing away from each other. I share my office with two other ladies, but they're hardly ever here and I'm almost always here. Anyway, the major drawback to this configuration is that I feel like I'm sitting in a fishbowl. Everyone who walks past my window can see right over my shoulder to what I may be viewing on the internet or doing on my computer. Usually its no big deal, its usually just email or word or excel or whatever other mundane thing that's open. but it can be a bit embarrassing when it's celebrity gossip blogs.
Speaking of, according to PITNB the next and last Harry Potter book is scheduled for release July 21st. So we should be able to get our mitts on it thenight of the 20th at midnight. Sorry anatomist, you have to reschedule your wedding. We're all going to be busy reading the book, and or crying about it.

I forgot about blogging.....
I've been so crazy busy! I totally forgot about blogging. activities and events and things over the last few days: Angelina visiting, went out friday night, saw JW"s new house, picked up AL at the airport, went to ice skating 5th birthday party for the cute boy's daughter's birthday, went to Seattle vs. Portland Rollerderby, went to Pulpshopgirls' wild west birthday party, hung out with anatomist, made a big breakfast sunday morning, held an open house that afternoon, made cherry pie and watched twin peaks with the cuteboy. now I'm at the office, but i'm going to sneak out here early and go hike Mt. Tabor. It's just too gorgeous out there.
here's a few snaps of the weekend:

Pulpshpgirls Birthday Outing
Last night we went out for Pulpshopgirl's birthday. We had dinner at Crush and then karaoke at Chopsticks!
Pulpshopgirl was lookin' smokin' hot as she often does, posing with her new photo of RFK

JW cleans up pretty sharp for special occasions

JW and Tara = instant friends!

I sang my "Libby is a Tramp" tune, then had to take off kinda earlier than I would have liked. Chopsticks is one intensely smokey bar, and my beer burps started to taste like cigarette smoke. ick.

sometimes I should shut my mouth
something maybe I shouldn't say at lunches with coworkers:
"I applied for a job at Hooters. They pay $15 an hour plus tips! I can't believe they didn't call me, I even sent them a picture of me in my wrestling costume. I already HAVE the push up bra!"

real estate whispering
I am fully immersed in real estate marketing this week....."building my business". i'm exhausted. I'm also making a very strong effort to not work ALL the time, so i am making sure I do a few fun things in there too. I'm also trying really hard to make sure Rosie isn't neglected in the midst of all the goings ons. We just went for an hour long walk, through the neighborhood and around Reed College. I've been reading "Cesar's Way", you know....the dog whisperer. I haven't seen the show yet, though i did get one of the dvd's from netflix i just haven't had time to watch anything. AL gave me the book for my birthday. It's really interesting, he's pretty fascinating and dog psychology makes sense the way he lays it out. So anyway, to do right by Rosie I'm trying to be the calm assertive pack leader, and trying to get her excercised, which is good for me as well.
and last but not least:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pulpshopgirl!

so excited for so many things
I had a fabulous forced mini vacation because of the snow. I hate driving in snow, so I just don't. but the cute boy i've been hanging out with drives in the snow. He came over and brought lots of entertainment. we made lunch, played scrabble, played soccer in the snow with rosie, and went to the pub down the street for dinner and beers. it was just too much fun.
then the snow melted and i went back to work and normal life, which is pretty good these days. I am still househunting and learning these real estate ropes. I am holding an open house this sunday which I am really excited about and will hopefully help me find a client or two. I'm still liking the whole deal, just really wanting things to get moving.
I organized a craft party, I'm really excited about it. i've been wanting to do it forever so I finally did! if anyone wants to come and didn't get an invitation via evite or myspace, just let me know! it's going to be wed. feb 7th. I'm hoping to make it a regular thing, monthly event, maybe rotate locations. Craft party! yay!
I also just got tickets for the Seattle vs. Portland Rollerderby next weekend, and Pulpshopgirl's birthday party is next weekend too! so much fun to be had!
right now I'm waiting around the house for BigD to arrive from Seattle. more fun to be had!

snow days!
Wow. snow. and lots of it. I got up yesterday and got ready for work, then got a call that our sales meeting was cancelled. there was already tons of snow on the ground and it was still snowing pretty heavy. so i got back in bed and slept really late. I called GwenB and she had the day off too since school was cancelled. Rosie and I walked over the Ross Island Bridge to Gwens and spent the day watching movies and knitting. It got dark and I decided it would be a really bad idea to try to walk home at night over the bridge and over the trains and all that while it's icey. So we stayed the night on Gwen's couch and walked home this morning. Now I'm home and can't seem to get my heater to turn on. I have to go see if the pilot light is out or something. AL is gone, shes down in Santa Rosa for two whole weeks. I really wish she were here for this snow. The thing about having snow days is you want to hang out with people, but they're hard to get to.

madness is all in the mind
Well I decided to hold off on the PC purchasing. I can update my lockbox thing at the office, and I'll just have to do all my RMLSweb stuff here too. I just won't be able to work from home and that might be a good thing for me for a bit, because otherwise I might never stop working. This will also force me to come into the office all the time which is good too. I've been house shopping, but it's not going so well. I found one I love, but it has a pending offer already and my dad is waffling on our whole strategy so i don't know whats going on.
I had a great weekend though, chock full of fun.
friday night: saw Marie Antoinette at the laurelhurst with the Ladies. entertaining film, kinda long and kinda bad at the same time. But they showed her playing peasant in her peasant village, so that was good.
saturday: ran mass amount of errands with AL, went to the Y and sat in the sauna and steam room. then went out with paula deer and her friend blanche to an old timey music fest! square dancing! it was SO FUN.
sunday: showed houses to my parents, went to the Blazers game and got to watch Iverson play, he's pretty amazing. (yes, i know I sound like I'm becoming a jock, and maybe I am.....) then had hot movie date with cute boy. good times.

flying my freak flag
Yesterday we did introductions among the new agents that are all training together. We were supposed to say why or how we got into real estate, and something interesting about ourselves. I told them about my past as a tag team wrestler. This morning we did introductions with the whole office and I wasn't going to mention the wrestling again, but my boss outed me. The whole thing was really kind of funny, and I don't think I'll ever hear the end of it now.

mac haters
It turns out that real estate ain't so mac compatable. I seem to have a problem. I can't access the RMLS web that I need to use. It just ain't mac compatable AT ALL. I am going to download a virtual machine, so I can install windows software to run the RMLS stuff. I also have this keycard palm thing that accesses lockboxes, it has to be updated everyday through the computer or an analog phone line. My problem now is.......does anyone have a windows XP install disc I can borrow?

back to the office life
It is very strange working in an office again. wearing office-y clothes and talking about football and going to lunch with your coworkers at the Olive Garden. I had a mini panic along the lines of "what have I done to myself?" but for the most part, so far I love it. I have a desk on which I put my awesome one-a-day stitch and bitch calendar that pulpshopgirl gave me. Today we went out to look at some houses, two that our principal broker has built and one that he is going to remodel. It was so fun. talking about houses and remodeling possibilities, it was great. I LOVE that shit. and the people in my office are really nice. I have to get over that feeling of not fitting in, and the fear that I will become assimilated too far into a lifestyle that seems to go along with this kind of business, and it's a life style that i don't want to live. but hell, I'm a chameleon, I can fit in anywhere. I'm not really capable of not being myself, though I'm ok at toning it down a little when I have to. I think I can fly my freak flag and still be a professional and I can get along with people who are not like me and not have to become like them. It's just anotehr job, really. It's all another adventure.
on an unrelated note: we just watched Xmen 3, i thought it was really sad. totally depressing.
