not SO dumb

Well Pocketmac sorta worked, I've got my blackberry syncing with ical, and ical syncing with google cal, so it''s doing what I wanted it to do there. Yay! I'm a little annoyed that I have to plug it in to sync, I was really hoping it would sync automatically with bluetooth. Since I finally got it connecting with bluetooth, now for apparently no reason whatsoever. Still haven't figured out the photos thing, but I feel I made some major progress.

so you are able to connect it via bluetooth? I know that some older phones (like my previous one) don't have "full" bluetooth functionality, whatever that means. I was never able to get my photos off my (ironically, far more expensive) old phone, but with my new P.O.S. phone it's easy, just open up bluetooth, browse and copy.
I also found out the hard way that bluetooth is more of a connection language and allows interconnectivity, but will not "sync" things for you. As I understand it, you need seperate software for that. Sort of like how firewire allows the connection but finder copies the files. I think.
I've struggled to figure this stuff out too. and you seem to be doing better than me, if it's any consolation.
let me know how pocketmac works for you.

with the same blackberry, i was able to bluetooth pictures to the computer, but you need to make sure that the phone can find the computer (in the bluetooth preferences i think) and also turn on bluetooth on your computer and allow other devices to find it. then give permission for your blackberry to send stuff. it sounds complicated, but once you have it set up it is easy.
maybe i will have to come down there and help... :)
i used pocketmac too, and it is great, the only problem is making sure that changes that you make on the phone and on the computer don't override each other. one of the problems is that the blackberry erases calendar stuff from before a certain date. when you sync, if you let the phone override the computer, you lose your calendar on your computer as well. this doesn't matter if you don't care what you did 2 months ago, but i am an obsessive recorder, so it was sort of devastating to me.
have fun!

done.made.said: it SAYS it's connected via bluetooth, but I don't see it anywhere. It was SO easy with my old razor. the pocketmac is the software for syncing, and its working sorta ok with ical. sorta.
anatomist: yes please, come down and help! I've heard rumors that the blackberry and photos have issues with the newer Mac OS.... Fo the calendar I keep experimenting with settings. I want the phone and my google cal that is synced with ical to sync both ways, but sometimes its working and sometimes it isn't. If there is a double entry it adds it to the phone at the wrong time. Right now it's set to sync both ways but it looks like its only going computer to phone, not phone to computer. I just started using the calendars on the computer, so its not a big deal to lose any info. I just keep F-ing with it.....

and p.s. you can back up iCal, hat helps with the accidental deletings!
