mimes vs. plate spinners

Anatomist and I had a heated discussion this evening about which sucks more: mimes or plate spinners. She's voting for plate spinners as "the bottome of the totem pole." Personally, i think mimes are worse. they're just creepier and more annoying....and miming looks easy. it may not be as easy as it looks, but it looks stupid anyway, so who cares? But plate spinning.....that looks hard. So therefore, i stand behind my belief that plate spinning takes more skill and mimes just suck. but I want to know what everyone else thinks! vote for who sucks more......mimes, or plate spinners?

now, plate spinning mimes... that would be hell. i honestly don't know who to side with here. mimes are seriously annoying, true. plate spinners i would put in the same category as unicyclists. some talent involved, but they mostly just taught themselves useless talents to annoy others. i guess, for me, it would come down to the individual. if the mime or plate spinner is trying to get in your face and show you their worthless talent, they're equally threatening. i've had some beers. can you tell?

I vote plate spinners. Mimes are too obvious; I've never met a single person that *likes* mimes. Hating mimes is too easy (which is not to say that I don't hate mimes. I hate mimes plenty.) No one thinks about plate spinners, except (apparently) Becky Fay. And the problem with plate-spinning is that it's kind of like juggling for retards.

The one who sucks harder is the one that also has the monkey in a clown suit. If there is no monkey than mimes suck harder. The only mime that doesn't suck is the one that mimes the dirty joke in "The Aristocats".

Don't get me wrong. I love my monkeys. I'm just not a fan of them being paraded around in stupid suits. Plate spinning is quite useless, a throwback to Ed Sullivan and b&w television. But, mimes actually go to school to study mime, like it's an art form. In my book learning a "trick" like spinning a plate is minor compared to studying the craft of pretending your surroundings are invisible. What is my point? Dunno. I still think mimes suck more. I choose to be in denial that David Bowie studied mime.

My god! david Bowie studied mime? that is confusing. It's true both plate spinners and mimes suck. I guess I still find some kind of interesting irony in a useless trick like plate spinning, that yes, its a sucky annoying thing to spend itme learning. But I still think mimes are worse. the face paint and the awful outfits and the stupid facial expressions......gar, so annoying!

i vote plate spinners for the suckiest suck sucks. Even if it's only by a thin thin margin. I feel like mimes can evoke a whole french physical-acting sort-of-vaudville history, while the only thing plate spinners make me think of is that annoying frantic music that is on commercials for laundry detergent.
